OUR CONNECTEDNESS

Dr. Wayne Dyer, a renowned writer said " everyone that comes into our lives comes there for a reason and it serve us. There are our teachers". I have always believe that we are all connected and nothing that comes our way that is an accident. Everyday draws us to circumstances, events and people that are necessary for our earthly journey, our reactions and actions count.
The major problem is that many a time we are so caught up in our own needs, gains and interest that we forget that we are here to serve and make the world better than we had met it. At other times, we examine consciously and unconsciously the trade off there in, we look at the immediate benefits we can get. Others time, if the seeker is not from our tribe, class, or what ever identification we label our interactive status. A story was told about a doctor who was called to quickly attend to a patient in the emergency room and out the negligence attributed to certain held believe that those who work for government establish hospital held (it is not my father's property) shied away from attending to the patient and the patient died only for the doctor to latter discover in his utmost dismay the said patient was his daughter. Quit unfortunate.
The law of nature is simple, give and you shall receive. The funny thing about this quote is that it was not stated in what way you will receive, in what time and what form will it be given back. It just said give and you shall receive.
We are human(humane: characterised by tenderness, compassion, and sympathy for people and animals) being(eternal). We are love manifest who have come into this world to know ourselves better, discover our unique ability and use it to serve one another. I am not just my name and surname, I am not just an igbo man that is a nigeria and a speaker, counsellor and writer. I am a divine being that was born in Nigeria to igbo parents that use his counsel, writing and speech to make the world better. Who then are you?

THE PARADOX OF LIFE

The first will be the last.
True simplicity is not easy.
Trying hard to be beautiful makes me ugly.
When I give of myself,I become more.
When I feel most destroyed,I am about to grow.
When I desire nothing,a great deal comes to me.
By being selfless,I enhance myself.
In dying,I am born anew.
My best work is done when I forget my own point of view.
The less I make of myself, the more I become.
It is not holy to point out how holy I am.
I have to embrace infinity inside a mortal body.
I have to believe in a God, I cannot see.
I have to learn to love in a dimension where there is so much hatred.
I have to see abundance when people constantly talk of shortages.
I have to discover freedom where control is the stage religion.
I have to develop self worth while people criticise and be little me.
I have to see beauty in spite of seemingly ugliness.
I have to embrace kindness and positive attitudes when surrounded by uncertainty.
I have to feel safe in spite of my concerns.
In dying, I am born anew.
In all, when every other person is struggling to learn. All I choose to do is to remember, remember who I am. It is in remembering who I am, I become all I can.

THE APPROACH TO EVIL IN OUR TIME.

I woke up with noise all around me and overheard somebody praying, casting and binding of the devil. The question that disturbed me apart from my peaceful sleep that was interrupted and may be the creator of this piece I am writing this morning, where is this fight between good and evil start?
"The kingdom of heaven suffer violent and it is taken by force" and "we struggle not against flesh and blood but against principality and power and wickedness in high places". Quotations like this and others that follows make me wonder at times whether there are two forces that created the universe and are struggling to see who owns it. The way and manner people vibrate and shout with such gusto make me ask how powerful is this devil? And the thing that puzzle me the most is when asked to pray for what we want voices are mild but when asked to come AGAINST any power that is stopping them, a aa the whole place becomes litted with fire and the loud of voice echoes even far beyond the heavens. May be it had produced results, I do not judge it and won't condemn it or is it only what we know and had been taught to us. Could they be another way? Is it really the teaches of Jesus?
I had been besets by this questions for years and I invite you to look at some of the assumptions I have come up with. In the beginning the bible and most spiritual literatures taught that the world was filled with darkness. Is this darkness evil? If you say yes to that it means that there are two forces that create the universe and God seizes to be the source of all things, this is one possibility. There is another, the darkness is uncertainty, the kind we suffer when we look for answer for a problem, the same that make scientist do what they call groping in the dark. This possibility is calling for clarity and may be that is why the Creator said let there be light, let there be clarity, let there be understanding and it have been called many names break through, the Aha experience, when the answer bust through our eyes. We know how it feels like to get there, joy, fulfilment and gratification fill our mind. If this happens is darkness evil? If it is what is the solution to it? Jesus said the light has come and darkness has disappear the only thing we do to darkness is to simple shine forth the light. How? Jesus said I am the light of the world and you are the light of the world. Simply meaning that when we recognise that we are the light darkness disappears, Jesus said let your light shine.
Another look at darkness comes in the form of question is it necessary for us to go through it? Remember I am only looking at possibilities, so I don't intent to take you away from what have been serving you. I just employ you to have an open mind to my questions and assumptions if you like to call it that. The text of the psalm said "even though I pass through the valley of darkness(death) I fear no evil, for thou are with me". Take time to ponder why the palmist experienced such, could the Divine permit such? Is there a need for such? a possible answer is you cannot know light until you pass through darkness as Deepark Chopra said that a man born blind do not know the meaning of darkness because he has not seen light. Could it be that opposite makes us appreciate the other part and may not necessary be evil? Jesus said do not resist evil mat.5vs39, he always want us to shine light on evil. I have tried to search scripture to see where the master fought evil with the gusto we use today, I have not found and if anyone do I am willing to learn.
Please don't get me wrong, I am not trying to say that evil don't exist. It does and it is a destructive. It is turning away from the light and we all know what happens when we intentionally turn off the light do to us. It is the same as evil. It come as a result of not shining light or letting light shine on our dark path and when one persist on that the effect is huge, we are aware that humanity is a collective whole so anything that affect one part, affects the others.
Opposite gives us the opportunity to see both part of a coin and give us the power of choice, good becomes the intentional moving towards light which is the birth of life. Evil is the intentional resistance to light and unfortunately so is the birth of death and all its attributes. Emphasis should be put on the word intention because it is key. I only problem had and still on how we approach the dispelling of evil.
When the prophet Elisha was pursued and surrounded, his servant filled with fear said to his master that they are doomed, his master made God open his eyes to the abundance of good around him. Could it be that what they had made us focus is what is making us use this approach? Could it be that some see like the servant of Elisha and said the world is evil and we have to do something about it(if God don't care) really fast and powerfully and immense all their energy into it. Or is their those who like Elisha have the KNOWING that good(GOD) always out number evil not matter what it appears to be and rest in that assurance just like that of the palmist( I will fear no evil for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me).
Like the psalm 23, could it be that there the journey through the dark side could lead to a prepared table, an anointed head and a cup over flowing? If you say yes, then maybe our judgement and approach to evil need to be change and if no then at least you read this and when it comes a time when what you believe no longer serve you, you may take a look at this again. THE DAY OF OUR LIFE

In the morning of life, we awake with wonder of what the world will look like. We build our fantasy on what we thinks it should be, in our plays we dream of the wonderful and unmatched impart we are here to make.We are full of smiles as we act the part and exchange roles as many times as possible, we look up to the sky with innumerable questions confident that the answers will show up at the twinkling of an eye. Is this not how life suppose to be?. We look at our parent will love that whatever we need will be provided us. we don't even think before we ask, we just ask knowing that it will be given us at least is that not how it suppose to be. We don't care much we only dream and play out the part. We see life as a dream where you can create your own version, where it had enough space for all of us, if you take my space which rarely occurs, I take another. Or is that not how it suppose to be?. Suddenly are woken up from our dreams, our beautify and inspiring dreams. Parents, circumstance and environment knock out that fantasy and knock into our head the said 'reality'.'my dear this the life 'they begin 'it is not easy at all' and the other words of 'advice' follows: things are hard, money don't grow on trees, you have to work very hard to make it, it is not how you think, you have to do it this way or no other and the rest of other chorus, I bet you know the rest of the song.
We sometimes get so submerged in the so called reality and lost the calling oh dreams of ours. The afternoon of life, that long awaited moment where we hope to perfect those our life long rehearsals and acts suddenly arrived un announce to our bewildered and met your unprepared with the whole advices that we had soaked up playing out in our lives. Do we have any choice? We swing with fist held tight into the arena of 'reality' while adding to that advices they, I mean parents, environment and all worth not gave us: o boy e no easy oh, we dey manage, we thank God(wetin we do do).
Success means for us accumulation, grab, grab, my broda time no dey wait for any body o, sidon there dey look.
And then how will evening welcome us? The same way as the afternoon, or as most times harder than the afternoon. Frustration, which comes some time in the afternoon and other times at night brings us to the table of accounting, 'where did the days went?,'where is this thing called reality?' 'Which of this is dream and reality, my childhood's or what they turned me into?' 'What have I become, a human BEING or a human DOING?' Or what Tolstroy said in his book 'what if my whole life had been wrong?'. As Tagore wrote "All men have poetry in their hearts, and it is necessary for them,as much as possible to express their feelings..." And in another quote said "If life is journey be endless where is its goal? The answer is, it is everywhere. We are in a place which has no end,but which we reached by exploring it and extending our relationship with it we are ever making it more and more our own. The infant is born in the same universe where the adult is ripe......the infant has it own joy(dreams) of life because the world is not a mere road, but a home of which it will have more and more as it grow up in wisdom".
Our dreams are our mission, the morning link the afternoon and the afternoon the evening. So also ours dreams(joy) links up with the world around us moldings us not apart from but integrating our dreams into it and bringing us to the evening of appreciation, thanks and opportunity to hand the batting over. THE SHIFT

Every moment of our life opens us to opportunity to respond to higher calling. We are born into this world armed with a particular calling and unique reason for being. Wayne Dyer and other great avater of our time use to say that there are no accident, every thing happens for a reason and it serves us. If that is true, where and how do we loose track of this calling?
When we are born as you will notice in the eyes of a newly born baby, we see the innocence and awe that child emit and it evokes a kind of feeling in us, many a time we dismiss this wonderful recollection by been drawn into the thoughts to what the child will become according to the context of achieving and lost what the child is in its nature. We swing into action, bombarding the child with the does and donts, the right and wrongs, how to what and how not to what fitting the child into the matrix of birth, growing up,go to school, get good grade, get a high paying job,get married, give birth to children, grow old and die. We never take the time to watch this child when it is on its own. We dismiss the questions they 'childishly' ask before they turn to the age five. We drown them into our own Ideal of what life should be,forgetting that there is a creator to that child, like Wayne Dyer puts it "thank you God for this child, can you please set aside for us to carry on from here". He calls EGO(edging god out).
I am not saying that training up a child to learn what is good or bad is not ok, what I mean is following the child way of growing, just like the christain blibical writing put it "train a child the way He(not you) should go". Meaning that within us, the creator had set a song that we are here to play and until we play that song we will never find fulfilment. St. Augustine new it when he said you will never rest until you rest in God. Until we find within us that song the creator planted in us we will never be fulfilled.
The matrix of life had so narrowed our perception of seeing anything other than the now. We get robbed in ambition pursuit that qualify our lives by what we have, what I can acquire, what they want me to be, their expectations of me, how I can fit in and etc. To that level we become human doing as Dyer will put it. Tagore wrote "I have spent my day stringing and un stringing my instrument while the song I came to sing remain unsung". The matrix of life so choke us from seeing that we can to this earth to realise our being.
Tagore said that man's happiness is not in getting anything but in giving himself up to what is greater than himself, to ideas which are larger than his individual life, the idea of his country,of humanity. Jesus made it clearer by saying "seek ye the kingdom of God...and every other thing shall be added unto you" and in another place completed it "the kingdom of God is within you". The kingdom within is what we are here to realise. We are spiritual being on a journey to discover our nature, our unique ability and to serve humanity. The Shift from this matrix of ambition to a life of meaning is bliss.
This life of meaning continue to call us even when we had lost it, it seek us always gently waiting for us to respond to it. "I stand at the door of your heart and knock any one who hears and opens I will come and make a home with him". How can one knock at your door and the person inside will not hear? Ya the person inside may be asleep, listening to a song with the volume very high or being drawn away by thoughts. So also this call manifest itself every day to us in events, circumstance and people(in good and bad). What is it? How do I know this song?. Well the answer is closer to you than you can think.
First of all let's find out who we are. The only way to find our nature is to look at our source. Who is God? From all my research my best answer for now is that God is the source and sustain er of all life. the Source made us in his image and likeness that is to be like him and act like him. So it is also right to say that we are the expression of the source, that is we are collaboration to the giving and sustaining of all life.God manifest himself through his creation and the height of it is of course us. We are then spiritual being that think with the mind, feel with the heart and manifest in the body. What are we here to do? We are here to discover and manifest our unique ability. Our unique ability manifest as the questions we ask as children. They are the things that when we do it gives us utmost joy and when left undone we fill pain. You see just like the story of Mother Teresa, whenever she attend to the sick and dying she feels great and when undone she feels bad. This call bring us everything we need to fulfil it at the right time, we only need to trust and let the Divine that we share in lead us to places and people that will help us accomplish it. It gives meaning to our jobs. Our jobs are not who we are, they are the vehicle we need to manifest our calling. Mother Teresa calling is to help the poor, she used the vehicle of nursing to achieve it. If only we can guild our children to discover their song and give them different vehicle(profession) options to choose from in other to see the unique talent grow, the world will be a better place. As I saw the movie the Shift by Wayne, I feel that call echo again and again and the surge to move on ignited in me. The Divine said I will be with until the end of time. Make that shift today.Every moment of our life opens us to opportunity to respond to higher calling. We are born into this world armed with a particular calling and unique reason for being. Make that shift today.
